The water volume of Huangguoshu Waterfall in Anshun, Guizhou Province has plunged 75 percent compared to its regular levels. This is because of a severe drought in southeast China since September 2009, especially in Guizhou and Yunnan provinces, reported by the Chongqing Evening News on March 22.
Huangguoshu Tourism Co. Ltd. which runs the waterfall has asked for cooperation from a nearby reservoir to help add water to the waterfall. In the evening the water from the reservoir is cut off to the waterfall and reopened at 6:30 am so that by around 8:40 am, the water reaches the fall. Despite taking these measures of adding water, the water volume of the waterfall has significantly dropped off and this natural scenery may even dry up.
Huangguoshu Waterfall, also known as Yellow Fruit Tree Waterfall is located on the Baihe River in Guizhou Province. It is 77.8 meters high and 101 meters wide. The main waterfall is 67 meters high and 83.3 meters wide.
