Sanya is an important port for import and export of trade with foreign countries. Moreover, for most visitors, Sanya is a noted tourist resort with mountains, sea, rivers and city.
Sanya, the Oriental Hawaii, is located on the southernmost tip of Hainan Island. As the island's most famous tropical resort, it is wonderful in the warm summer months and also a popular spot in winter too.
This is a great place to soak up some atmosphere and the night market here is especially lively with seafood sold on the streets, stores selling all types of intriguing and wonderful wares (including smuggled goods from Vietnam) and huge tea warehouses, all adding to the chaotic feeling about this place.
The biggest attraction here is the beaches. Sanya has some of the most beautiful and well maintained stretches of sand, not just in China but in southern Asia. The sand here is white, palm trees provide shelter from the sun and the sea is wonderfully blue and warm.
Sanya Bay, Yalong Bay and Dadonghai, all golden seaboards of Sanya, are some of the first choices for visitors to spend their holidays. Among these three bays, Yalong Bay is the most famous and the first you have to visit in Sanya. If you are an enthusiast of exciting water activities, Wuzhizhou Island is your place to challenge the mysterious and changing sea.
Additionally more than 20 ethnic groups including Han, Li, Miao and Hui inhabit Sanya, making it a wonderful place to appreciate the various cultures of China.
This is just about the only place in China with a laid-back feeling and atmosphere. You could spend anything from a few days to a week or so here, soaking up the sun, relaxing and just enjoying the unique and relaxed ambience that dominates this place.
